The Curtis R3C-1 biplane was a revolutionary aircraft created in 1925 to compete in air races. Its seaplane version the R3C-2 was equipped with streamlined wooden floats and went on to win the prestigious Schneider Cup Race in Baltimore averaging over 235 mph and setting a world speed record of 245 mph.
