@klb146 hi there - I just measured from shoulder to shoulder and it is about 15.5 inches. Does this help? The coat is roomy around the center- kind of like a boxy straight cut look. It would definitely fit a chunky sweater for a person who is normally a small. So I would say if the person is on the smaller side of a medium, the coat would fit as well. Hope this helps!
