As decor, the koi fish represents wealth in traditional Chinese culture. The inside of the bowl is smooth unglazed. The glazing over the outside gives a very nice washed look to the higher areas of the relief. The glaze color gives a lite cream hue to the green tone. The glaze is brought right up to the edge of a nicely trimmed foot. The inside of the foot is unglazed. The color is not sprayed. It is formed by the high-temperature firing of natural minerals no harmful substances are produced during use. The bowl is in very good shape with no chips or cracks .
