Cattails 7.25" Utensils Vase Holder Stoneware Signed Labaire Pottery *EUC*VTG*

Baluster-shape container with tooled bands; speckled light beige body (not as yellow as pics show). Impressed around middle with individual thick serif letters spelling “UTENSILS” flanked by hand-painted cattails and marsh grasses in cobalt blue and manganese purple/brown. Flared rim, neck and base picked out in blue. Underside of flat bottom (no foot) incised "Labaîre" in cursive; no date. Measures 7 1/4 in. tall; 4 3/4 in. at rim, 5 in. at widest point of lower body, and 3 3/4 in. on bottom. Made by professional studio potters Ron and Anne Labaire (Labaîre) of Duluth, GA, probably in the late 1980s or 1990s. The couple sold their pieces to galleries across the country before opening Labaire Pottery - A Gallery of Fine Crafts in Stone Mountain, GA, in 1996 (business moved to Norcross, GA, in 1998 and closed in 2010).
