They are convertible in the sense that they have buttons on the sides which allows you to lower the height of the boot and show the plaid lining (please see photos which demonstrate the different ways to wear). One major flaw: there is a missing upper most hook in one boot. It doesn’t really affect the wearability as you just lace up the boots on hook lower but this has been factored into price.
