This dress has been hemmed 3 inches.. its very long on anyone under 5"9 .. Its now to the knee, Im 5" 7. Covers the top part of the knee..
I think it would be cute hemmed another few inches above the knee. The longer length makes it more formal.
The extra material is still there to let it out if you want a true midi dress.
