Adorable c1962 black suede low heeled all leather pumps trimmed all around in swingy black fringe with 2" kitten heels. Handmade by Capezio's Italian cobblers in New York. The insole has the famous Capezio Logo proclaiming - "Capezios by Capezio the dancer's cobbler since 1887". Look Carefully - See the fringe all around the top edge. These were hard to photograph - due to being black suede which absorbs all light. Please enlarge and look hard. It is well worth it. This is a great design! Beautifully made, all leather, in a lovely feminine design. Black rayon fringe, 7/8", long surrounds the top line of the shoes. The "top line" is the technical name for the opening at the top of the shoe into which you insert your foot. The toes are a gracefully tapered almond shape. Capezio is a famous company that has been making pointe shoes by hand for ballet dancers in the United States since 1887 and continues to do so to this day. They apply the same care, expertise and attention to detail to making fashion shoes and boots as they do to their famous ballet shoes. This is a lovely example of Capezios shoes - sized 8M. Fits true to size. The uppers look great. The soles show use/ wear, but remain in useable condition with plenty of wear left in them. The heel tips are in excellent shape. These pair date to 1962. They are a highly collectable, wearable and elegant pair. Audrey Hepburn famously wore black kitten heels similar to these in Breakfast at Tiffany's!
