trinitystresor @kerrymrose oh wow once a month? I’m sorry. Hopefully you’re making you’re exercising self-care. I can’t imagine. It’s a struggle I’m sure, but I trust Jak is in the best care possible. As you know, I stopped teaching after I had Etan. But in hindsight, I should have gone back! He’s keeping his distance from me and it’s hard (for me). We used to talk all the time, but now that he’s 21, we’re not connecting at all. I know some of that behavior is “normal” for his age, but he’s reclusive.

trinitystresor @kerrymrose It’s scaring me. Mike and I are still together, but he’s has gotten a job offer that’s 2x his salary but it’s in TX, not CA. 😣 Idk. Can’t do TX again nor any Southern state. I mean offense to anyone from there but it’s just too hot, too many bugs, etc. 🥵 I have np visiting, but it’s not home. So we’re at a crossroads. (Think he also wants to get away from his dad who’s a lot to deal w/). His dad’s doing great health wise. City of Hope! 🌟 I’ll just stay in CA w/ my fur babies. 🥰

kerrymrose @trinitystresor Oh wow! I’m so sorry to hear that. I know kids grow more independent and the teen + years are tough, but my heart aches for you that you and Etan don’t talk all the time. I remember when he took you to dinner for Mother’s Day (I think), and told you he loved you and you were the best mom. I hope you reconnect. 😢

kerrymrose @trinitystresor I remember you used to teach, before Etan. I feel lucky I had 1.5 years off before returning, and I’m 67% contract so 11-3:30, but I still wish I was home with Jak. Teaching in this political climate is tough (and frankly, scary). I do a lot of social justice curriculum and teach Orwell’s 1984, so I fear push back every day but I am lucky we’re in CA.
