This 1940s' tilt hat is made of green felt, and meant to be work tilted towards the front. It has. An elastic strap to keep it in a tilted position. The slanted crown is surrounded by a short triple brim and has a narrow band of the same green felt around the base of the crowns which ends in a bow at one side. This. bow holds two ostrich feathers, one is black, and the other is yellow.
Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
There is no brand label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. There is a size label: ADJUSTABLE HEAD SIZE.
This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
