CHANEL Season 29 Runway Glass Pearl 16” Necklace with Box -Lagerfeld/Castellane

This exquisite CHANEL necklace showcases baroque-style cream glass pearls, each with a unique organic shape, elegantly paired with goldtone accents. The pearls are arranged in a single strand, knotted in between. The pearl at the end of the extender has a Chanel logo affixed. The second pearl from the clasp on one side has an oval plaque attached with the Chanel logo in the center with the number 2 on the left and 9 on the right. The top of the plaque has copyright Chanel, the bottom has Made in France. Researching this I found reference to the nomenclature of seasons created by head jewelry designer Victoria de Castellane when Karl Lagerfeld was Head Designer at Chanel. Runway/catwalk pieces were typically marked in this manner. Castellane was there from 1989 to 1996 and Season 29 (2 per year) was her last year. I am not an expert by any means, but tried to summarize what I found. There are 17 large pearls making up the necklace, plus the small one on the extender. Several of the pearls show some loss of the coating- most are tiny, but one has a 1/2 long strip scratched and another has about a 1/8” scratch, others have tiny dots of loss.
