penguinitsa Hi, these are actually representations of Moroccan fibulas -- the brooches native Amazigh women wore on their wrapped dresses to attach the back to the fronts at the shoulders. Besides being functional, they were also considered symbols of protection for women as well as their identity. These pendants, of course, aren't functional fibulas, but interpret their design in miniature, and were made for export rather than for local market.
