It was featured in grey on the runway, and champagne at the trunk shows, but this raspberry color was limited production for red carpet only. Renee Zellweger, Carolina Herrera's muse, wore it to the Academy Awards - her version had a over-the-top train - thankfully, this train-less version is far easier to walk in! The fabric is a beautiful taffeta in a cotton/silk - it has a very subtle grosgrain texture and although the fabric is light and crisp, it is dense enough to hold its tailoring. And the bodice is framed in a beautiful old-world ivory lace with a thin strip of velvet! The dress is heavily tailored - it features a corseted bodice with an origami-bustline, a sweetheart notch to frame the cleavage, a structured bodice that nips in the waist, and that rounded pencil shape that grips your hip - this is a true hourglass silhouette, it is real Old Hollywood. After the hip, the dress flares into a classic mermaid / trumpet hemline with lots of body and "zhoosh" - the hem has a stiffened panel and a layer of petticoat-tulle to provide soft structure - it is dramatic without being theatrical. The dress was gently worn, exactly 2 times, cleaned and put into storage.
