CAROL CHAPMAN (b.1936) Signed Serigraph / BEACH CHAIR & UMBRELLA / Carmel Bay Co

Carol Chapman was born in 1936 in Kansas City, Mo. and excelled in art from an early age. In the 60’s & 70’s, she became well known for her oil paintings of beach life along the East Coast. In 1980, she moved to Carmel, Ca. and was convinced to sell her art to a wider audience through cards, calendars, and high-quality serigraphs (silkscreens). This magnificent serigraph is one of Chapman’s best known images. This early edition is titled “Newport” but later she changed the name to “Cannes”. This serigraph was made to be sold a the Carmel Bay Company store in Carmel. The words ‘Carol Chapman Carmel Bay Company’ are below the title and signature but have been covered up by the double mat. The serigraph and mats have been affixed to a sheet of white foam board measuring approximately 26.25 x 30 inches.
