Your Ethiopian opal is from the mines in Welo Province in Ethiopia and to keep it looking beautiful for years to come, there are some important precautions. If cleaning is needed, use a soft, dry cloth. .Ethiopian opals tend to readily absorb any liquids with which they come into contact. Avoid exposure to water, coffee, tea, wine, oils, perfumes, soaps, and other liquids which could cause permanent and irreversible discoloration. If it gets wet, do not dry it with heat but let it air dry.
