Please be careful about buying or selling scarves or sweaters with tags that say "100% Cashmere Made In Scotland". The Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute (“CCMI” or the “Cashmere Institute”), an international trade association of Cashmere manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers brought complaints against both Amazon and Etsy over the ’ large-scale distribution, advertising, marketing and sale...of counterfeit garments falsely, misleadingly, and damagingly represented, branded and advertised... to be, “100% Cashmere Made in Scotland,” when in fact they are not Cashmere, and are not made in Scotland, but are actually 100% Acrylic, a much less expensive, petroleum-based, and more flammable fiber, made elsewhere, in violation of both federal and Massachusetts state laws pertaining to false advertising, false designation of origin, unfair competition, trademark dilution, intellectual property rights, and contract law". Sellers may unknowingly find or purchase these items in thrift stores or online and resell them without knowing they are counterfeit. Research how to perform a burn test on a loose thread of any fabric that has this label. Ask your seller for information about the item before buying if it has this label.
