lcmagnus0815 I need a 20 x 20 or 24 x 24 with hard wood such as maple, hickory, cherry, oak or mixture. how much?
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 my dad makes them I’ll have to ask. What type of board are you looking for long grain or end grain. An end grain will likely be around $80
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 long grain. what type of wood will he use? is it finished with bees wax or linseed oil or something? I want to use it as a cutting board and pasta/dough board. how much to ship? how long will it take? the ideal measurement would be 24 long by 20 wide and 1.5 thick.
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 he can make it to order with whatever species of wood you want. I’ll text him now and ask him if he has anything ready in that size. It would only take him a few days to make so you could pick whatever you want.
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 finished with butcher block oil. He just made a 24x24 for one of the new houses I built. That one was finished in tongue oil I’ll post a pic but I’d suggest plain old mineral oil for butcher blocks esp if you want to cut on it. The tongue oil is more for island tops. You can see some of the tops he’s built on my website lafemmehomebuilders.com or lisabreen.com

lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 sounds good. thanks for the info. yes, please see if he has anything in that general size ready to go. i am OK going with the wood he suggests for my purposes. yes, I will definitely be cutting on it but I want it to look nice too. I love black walnut but I also like hickory, cherry, maple. my favorite is acacia or teak but I realize he probably doesn't have those woods.
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 he has walnut, cherry, maple, cost for something that size he said would be $250
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 sorry $250 was for the end grain. Getting price on long grain

lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 Hi Lisa. I just looked at your website. you sure build beautiful homes! gorgeous photos. I did see the butcher block on the Sarasota lake home. looks really nice. I do like contrast of woods. the long grain would be best, I don't really like checkered pattern of the end grain. I will need an approximate cost for the board and shipping. let me know the next steps. thanks! Lisa Szymanski
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 depending on wood $100-$150 that would include shipping. Could do walnut / maple alternating if you like the contrast
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 I’ve added a new photo to the end of the pics that shows a maple /cherry long grain
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 very nice! what about walnut cherry or walnut maple. do you have any pics of those by chance?
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 $100 total would be awesome. 24 long, 20 wide by 1.5 thick. could he put rubber stoppers on the bottom, so it doesn't slip?
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 or some kind of rubber on the bottom so it doesn't slip or scratch countertop
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 4th to last photo shows black walnut / maple in an end grain counter top to show contrast. I don’t think he’s mixed cherry and walnut. I’ve asked him if he has any pics of a long grain maple and walnut and I’ll post that if he sends me one
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 or beech and black walnut would be amazing if he has any access to beech. or a black walnut slab cutting board. whatever is possible for the price would be amazing. his work is phenomenal!
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @lcmagnus0815 yeah he does really nice work. I’m lucky to have his tops in my houses :) I think he also has ash, not sure about beech wood
Apr 23Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 Those are all the pics I have but if you want him to make a black walnut maple that looks like the cherry maple the cost is $150. If you decide you want one, let me know and I’ll make a listing on posh
Apr 23Reply
lcmagnus0815
lcmagnus0815 @lisab8228 ok. I have decided I need to keep the cost at $100. so how about the cherry maple long grain like the picture. I will go with that and the dimensions I mentioned, 24 long, 20 wide and 1.5 thick. can he put some rubber bumper things on the bottom so it stays in place and doesn't scratch the countertop? I'm so excited. I'm a huge cook, and this will be awesome for making pasta, for bread making, baking and also chopping, etc.

thestripe1 Hi Lisa, those are great looking cutting boards! I am looking for an end grain all maple 24” x 18” and 2” thick. (Thicker is fine if needed for board integrity.) Would you be able to give me a price for something like that? Also, is it possible to add a drip groove around the edges?
Jul 20Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @thestripe1 approx $250 I can ask my dad to price if you’re interested
Jul 21Reply
thestripe1
thestripe1 @lisab8228 Yes, please! Will you also see if he can price 16x22 and 14x20 as well in all maple end grain? Thank you so very much! (C:

thestripe1 Oh, one more thing. I don’t know how long it would take, but if I were to purchase 4 or 5 additional cutting boards with the maple one, any idea what kind of time that would take? The others would not need to be all maple. I am thinking about them as gifts for family members.
Jul 25Reply
thestripe1
thestripe1 @lisab8228 Okay. Let me know about the exact price on the three sizes of all maple boards at your earliest convenience and then I figure out what will work best for me.
Jul 27Reply
thestripe1
thestripe1 Hi Lisa, I haven’t heard back from you on pricing for the sizes I’ve asked about. Is this something you’ll still be able to provide? I am also thinking about some as gifts for family members, but they would not be as large. What size are the two square cutting boards circled in the picture. One looks like walnut, and the other one looks like maple.
Aug 02Reply
lisab8228
lisab8228 @thestripe1 those are $85. I’ll see my dad on Sunday and can ask him about the custom sizes
