The authentic trench coats usually come with a code number on the inside lapels or the seams of the coat usually with an extra button .they are made in England / Ireland depending on the year of release .older labels read " burberrys' " whereas newer ones read " burberry" You could look for it and / or contact your nearest retailer . Other signs are the stitches, the inside lining and the buttons these are signature Burberry ... That's what put Burberry on the map of outerwear . If you compare your coat to others of the same line you will notice similarities or differences as the case may be . Some vintage pieces will need to be authenticated by the retailer . This is just a guide to help you and in no way concise so please feel free to do more research before coming to any conclusive decision regarding the authenticity of the coat
