Rare vintage Burberry loden wool + alpaca long coat with a traditional cape-back (storm cape) design, expertly made in Austria.
This is a heritage Burberry piece known for its exceptional warmth, elegant drape, and timeless equestrian silhouette.
Crafted from a substantial, durable loden wool blend with alpaca for softness and insulation. Finished with classic Burberry details: structured shoulders, deep pockets, and a long, refined line.
A true collector’s coat and increasingly hard to find in this condition.
Condition
Exterior wool/alpaca shell is in excellent vintage condition — clean, thick, and beautifully preserved.
The interior lining has two hand-stitched repairs near the arm openings (shown in photos). The stitches are secure, tidy, and not visible when worn. No odors or structural issues. Original matching belt included.

@klardiere Yes, the cape is fully removable as listed. If you look at photo #6 evidence of the cape buttons are shown that are most times hidden below the collar. Also, I want to emphasize that this is a Bavarian utilitarian coat and there is venting under the arms…the seam is open ….described often as “vents or slits for the arms, which allows for extra ventilation and a greater range of motion for hunting or hiking.”

@binkyesquire Hello. Yes the same green brownish lining you see in the back of the coat extends down the sleeve to where it meets the loden green wool blend fabric cuff that folds upwards. It can partially be viewed in photo #11 where the sleeve lining meets the armpit and shoulder junctions.
