Brooke Cadwallader Silk Scarf, The Carnival Print – 1947-1950 Brooke Cadwallader was a well-known printed textile designer of the mid-20th century. His whimsical prints drew on the interests of a country in and out of war and were used on scarves, ties, aprons and various other accessories. Cadwallader’s textile designs are well-represented in the collection archives of The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. The Carnival print features acrobats, clowns, jugglers, often with small dogs, in Renaissance Era costumes. A pattern of rectangles in yellow, turquoise, and lavender are arranged on a grid with a pink background. Still beautifully bright. Showing the Brooke Cadwallader logo and the pattern name on the border. A hand-rolled hem. Measuring 33 inches square. In very good vintage condition with the expected light wear.
