"Stephen Mitchell's bestselling version of the Tao Te Ching has been widely acclaimed. In eighty-one brief chapters Lao-tzu's Book of the Way provides advice that imparts balance and perspective, a serene and generous spirit, and teaches us how to work for the good with the effortless skill that comes from being in accord with the Tao--the basic principle of the universe."
I first read this text long ago for college and in the meantime found this newer edition. Having been raised in a strict household with one parent retired from the military and another parent from Northern Europe, it's perhaps an understatement to say I was blown away as a young adult to learn of the existence of Eastern philosophies. Such teachings certainly expanded my conceptual horizons and changed the trajectory of my life. Nowadays I kind of think of the Tao as essentially being in a "state of flow." A tricky frame of mind to achieve (what with all the internal nagging and the perpetual state of the world) but I strive nonetheless. At any rate, it's time for this copy to find a new home. ๐ ๐
