Book: Children Just Like Me: A Unique Celebration of Children Around the World

The cover is faded and I found one small tear (see close-up photo, the tear is circled). Some minor cosmetic creases to a few pages, but overall this copy is gently-loved. The spine is strong, and all the pages are intact. Really, it's in fabulous condition considering it appears to have been a circulating copy for an elementary school at one point (there's one small school stamp on the inside cover). This book is filled with lovely stories about diverse lives. Each page includes photos of the child's family members, and shares info about their day-to-day activities. Hobbies, details about their home, schoolwork, and what they might eat for a typical meal. We see how they write and pronounce their names in their own language, and what their names mean, and so forth. Though children around the world might have different circumstances and cultures, or may live in more rustic of homes that are better-suited to their regions than American homes, they have remarkably similar dreams and hopes to any local kids you may know. They want to be teachers, computer scientists, doctors, soccer stars, and agricultural engineers. They want people to learn about pollution and the environment, they want to meet children from other countries, they want peace in the world, and they want people to be happy. A wonderful and deeply touching book.
