Paperback, 366 pages, published 1997. Winner of a Lambda Literary Award.
Good used condition, some flaws. This copy had a couple of cracks along the spine so I reinforced it with clear tape. The edges show minor cosmetic wear and the acid-free paper is also yellowed appropriate to the age of the book, but overall this copy still has plenty of life left in it. No writing or highlighting, and all the pages are still hanging in there pretty well.
"In essays written especially for this collection, 29 noted gay writers share their coming-out stories, of revealing their sexual identity to parents, siblings, friends, and co-workers. Some were rejected, some tenderly embraced. These are poignant, sometimes unexpectedly-funny tales of romance and heartbreak, repression and liberation, assault and first love--the defining moments that helped shape the authors' lives. Arranged chronologically from Manhattan in the 40's to San Francisco in the 90's, these essays ultimately form a documentary of changing social- and sexual mores in the United States."
