vase is a blue and white porcelain piece made in the People's Republic of China, standing 7 inches tall.
STYLE & DESIGN
* The decoration shows a prunus blossom tree (also called plum blossom), a motif often used in Chinese ceramics. It symbolizes endurance and renewal, since plum trees bloom in late winter.
* The white blossoms are painted in reserve against a deep cobalt blue ground, a style that recalls Qing dynasty "Hawthorn" jars from the Kangxi period (1662–1722). Many later reproductions and export vases followed this style.
AGE & MARKINGS
* Since it is marked "Made in the People's Republic of China", it was produced after 1949 (the founding of the PRC).
* Most pieces with this mark date from the 1960s–1980s, often made for export.
