Jean-Claude was born in 1934 in Rochefort-sur-Mer, France. He is considered the initiator of the revival in figurative French painting, bringing back the traditional techniques of still life. His special talent is to visually suggest the sweetness and the taste of the fruit, the peach's fuzziness, the shininess of the cherry, the skin of the grape, the patina of the pewter, the clarity of the crystal and the texture of the linen. The dessert service commissioned by PIERRE BERNARDAUD, a personal friend of the artist, is composed of elements of Chauray's original oil paintings.
