Well, I just got off the phone with neurology and I’m over the moon to say that the swelling on his spine in question was in fact a shadow!! We discuss taking him off IVIG on Monday! Absolutely thrilled and give all the glory God. I am so incredibly humbled and grateful. Best news ever. For those just joining in on the journey. Beau was hospitalized a week after his eighth birthday. He lost his vision and had extremely sore joints. With an mri and blood tests later - he was officially diagnosed with MOGAD disease. That is an autoimmune that attacked his optic nerves and nervous system along the spine. He was quickly put on steroids for five days then an insane process called Plasmapheresis - he had to have a port put into his chest and they essentially cleaned out his blood(plasma) to help his immune system chill out. After that we did monthly infusions called IVIG - those started May and we are continuing until November. He has been such a trooper. God gives him strength and Lego sets have been such a great distraction during the four hour infusions.
