there's been an onslaught of counterfeit Canada Goose hats and other apparel appearing on Poshmark feeds. These hats are being sold on fake accounts by crooks trying to make a quick buck by conning unknowing poshers into buying these poorly made imitations. BE AWARE so you don't end up losing your hard earned cash to one of these a$$holes. While some may look legit, there's a lot of tells if a hat is fake. An obvi warning sign I've observed is the red tag (Authentic items have gray tags). Further, the inside tags lack the CG hologram. Sometimes the poor production is evident by the crookedly applied CG emblems. All CG items are also made of almost always 100 percent (or close to it) merino wool. These counterfeits have interior tags saying they're acrylic or polyester ( A CG would never)! Also, the imposter postings will sometimes have no photos of the actual item for sale. They only employ stock photos from the CG website. At this point, if you are still unsure if a hat is the real deal, check the profile of the seller itself. Typical Fake sellers have little to no other postings other than the imitation CG. Their names usually are a Jumble of letters & #s and appear made up. I find the users profile pics are often that of an attractive female. You may see prior sales of the same exact item you are looking at, the same ad just posted repeatedly. Also, be sure to check comments from fellow posters, they may have called the seller out already on shady practices.

alexandria6986 Yes!!!!!! There are ao many and it’s unbelievable that Posh wont do anything about it. I made that mistake and the seller stole my money!!! I never got the item. They shipped it out on a insufficient address, so it got sent back to them and they never sent it back out and kept ny money. FRAUD. Posh needs to do better.

madaboutamelia @alexandria6986 how do they send it out to an insufficient address if PM produces the label? Just trying to be careful who I buy from…
Nov 17Reply
alexandria6986
alexandria6986 @madaboutamelia tbh i dont know. What i can assume is the stickered over my real address with a fake one in my area but still had the bar code available for usps to scan. Because it did teach my town but then got sent back. I purchased something from someone else (legit page) a couple days before and no no issues with shipping.

arxaesthetix @alexandria6986 wow! never heard of that type of scam, that's really awful! Poshmark seriously needs to clean up some of these trash accounts selling fake items. maybe require legitimate ID and not just an email if you want to sell on here. I hate having to be soo careful when purchasing certain products, definitely makes the whole shopping experience a lot more stressful and a lot less fun :( so sorry that happened to you, appreciate you sharing :)

alexandria6986
alexandria6986 @arxaesthetix same! Im not really sure what they were thinking because the money pends in the account until you accept the offer. Maybe they just hope people are dumb and click accept? It took me two weeks to get a refund. Once the seller deleted the listing before it was shipped out, i knew it was a scam. Be careful!!

poshshoe1659
poshshoe1659 @alexandria6986 this has happened to me 3 times in the past month.. one time I actually retrieve the package and it was a small envelope with a piece of cardboard in it. no product.
Nov 20Reply
poshshoe1659
poshshoe1659 at min. 90% of the Canada goose products on Posh are counterfeit.. Posh does a great job at refunds for counterfeit and undelivered packages if brought to there attention. most places amzn, Poshmark,Merc, bay would almost be put out if the counterfeit industry did not exist..there are not enough authentic pieces made for this kind of mass consumption.. too much money is being made for companies like this to completely turn on counterfeit resellers. so it's buyer beware.
Nov 20Reply
poshshoe1659
poshshoe1659 so the ones making the most from counterfeit goods is Poshmark and everyone of the selling platforms that exist.. those people selling probably aren't making much.. the prices only go so low even for counterfeit goods . and pish posh gets 20% every dam time.. so who's the real crooks here?

rwbmom Thank you for taking the time to create this posting. I was looking for a jacket and your info came at just the right time. PM should do better - WE the consumers/good guys shouldn’t have to take it upon ourselves but I am grateful you did.

jeff_putterman
jeff_putterman I see hats on the canada goose website that have the same red tags. Is this new?
Dec 02Reply
arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix @jeff_putterman can you drop a link to the website you saw the red tags on? from what I've seen, the official Canada goose website (http://www.canadagoose.com) doesnt show any tags at all on any of their items, hats and otherwise. if you go to any legitimate retailer store that sells Canada goose products, the tags on all the items are only gray. the fake hats on Poshmark have other red flags in addition to the tags, i tried to list all i could to help people out

hauteresale Thank you so much for creating this Post. I am so sick of Fake showing up in my feed and in the evening PM parties under Luxury items. I should think PM could block them easily enough if I can spot them right away. I don’t even go to the Luxury party anymore. Too many Fakes.

pennywh1971
pennywh1971 thank you for doing this. there r so many out there that do not care about stealing peoples hard earned money. its happened to me and I'm trying hard to trust people on here again and it's hard!! to know what's the real thing and whats not these days, with anything.

richmondhillmom
richmondhillmom @arxaesthetix Thanks for cresting this post. I just had return a fake freestyle vest. it was a good replica but to the trained eye I could see Maple leaves were touching the border & the inside halogram tag was correct. My son & I have several CG Coats so these are things that we immediately check.
Dec 25Reply
richmondhillmom
richmondhillmom @arxaesthetix I also wanted to moment regarding scammers having items shipped to another address. They us the correct tracking number but a fake address & once it gets delivered, the buyer has 3 days to accept otherwise the funds are released. Of people are tracking they're package it may take them a few days to sort out why it says delivered when they didn't receive it. By that time, the $ has been released & it's 2 late.

julesthegreat1 There’s a ton of fake products of a lot of brands. I’m sure it’s difficult, but Poshmark should monitor these more closely

arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix @pennywh1971 oh man i feel your pain... i get so stuck when trying to determine if an item im interested in is real or not... legit waste HOURS. sometimes people don't even know they have fake shit. i tried reselling a hat that my boyfriend had purchased on PM a while back. the buyer contacted me/Poshmark and indicated that the item was fraudulent (i was completely unaware!) i

arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix @pennywh1971 showed the person screenshots of the original Poshmark posting from which my boyfriend had originally bought the hat. turns out we were suckered into buying a fake first, and this led to us inadvertently selling my buyer a fake item. I felt terrible and accepted the return of course. but yeah you honestly can't be 100% certain with anything unless you purchase it from the actual retailer. and that sucks

arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix side note i think Poshmarks biggest problem is with accountability. to create a Poshmark account you only need an email address. it doesnt even require a telephone number, meaning one person from their phone can create endless poshmark accounts. this means that if a fake seller gets shut down or banned, they can simply make another account.
Jan 12Reply
arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix they defraud by shipping to fake addresses l, it doesnt matter because there is no name or any real information tied to the account. this is why there is so much fraud on here. if Poshmark required more information to create a seller account, such as a social security number, a scanned copy of your liscence, and a legitimate phone line number,

arxaesthetix
arxaesthetix i promise that a ton of the fraudulent activity would disappear from the app. people will be far less likely to commit these fraudulent offenses if they were linked to their real information as they can be held accountable
Jan 12Reply
pennywh1971
pennywh1971 @arxaesthetix yes. I think that is an awesome idea. It would make people more comfortable buying items if there was someone to be responsible for inaccurate I formation amd stealing. Poshmark should do that. If i had an app ajd people were using my site to make money, I would want to know who they r!?!?! so that the buyers were protected.

marshallasis Thank you kindly for looking out for us. It’s bad enough that mass produced items have no quality or extreme varied quality but to steal the brands name to rip off people with even less quality or dare I say no quality is just a ridiculous disappointment. As if it wasn’t bad enough that Canada goose went to China and since then Their products haven’t gotten us through the -60 f temperatures in expeditions.

michelefosket
michelefosket @dedeloulou It’s really bad now! I was looking for a LV Purse and the first 20+ handbags were $300 or under! The same thing with Dior! They say “100% authentic, even PM will let you know they are authentic” There scams are good! They are now imprinting a number on the back of the tag!
Mar 14Reply
dedeloulou
dedeloulou @michelefosket Well now I’m paying for a second authentication on products that I purchased from a second source which is only one other place, and the rest is directly from the retailer’s…Most of my items are my personal or my daughters prior to sale…But yes it’s gotten really bad here shameful. Posh needs to crack down on counterfeit products like other sites have like now !

Lots of them will only say since December 2023 (like how convenient LOL)…is there a way to report a profile? I’ve tried to see but to no avail.
