In his words - his focus was "instead of concentrating on what makes us different, I've been trying to express what we share with people in general. I want to reveal our common humanity." MARK MUTCHNIK lived in New York City with his lover and had also been battling the debilitating effects of AIDS. "It has presented physical obstacles but has not dimmed my urge to work. I am fighting to stay alive and be creative and be involved with life," said the artist, whose work was exhibited in a one man show in October of 1989. "My art exudes a mysterious power to me that is not easily explained. Instead of dwelling aspects of despair and anger, I want my art to focus on hope and revelation." MARK MUTCHNIK passed away in 1991. Images include a poem written by the artist and an article on the artist from The Advocate newspaper.
