I'm so happy you're strolling through. perhaps you've found something that tickles your fancy. perhaps you're simply trying to pass time. Either way, I'm glad you're here.
I am an expressively passionate purveyor of all things creative, beautiful and unique. I am Autistic, Capricorn to a T, born in the 70's (the best generation in my opinion- Generation) total music fanatic, lover of all things David Bowie and anything
What has always been a passion of mine(reselling since the late 90s) has become a need of purpose, because of my son who is Autistic. All proceeds of our Poshmark sales go straight to my son's life skills-social skills, speech, and educational tutoring costs.
The pandemic was not kind to our family & threw everything into chaos. Our son was left with no education at start of pandemic, and his public school in WA state never reconnected him. I found that federal law, even though on paper it says that schools must educate students with disabilities till they are 21, his public school stopped his education at 11th grade, he was only 17. I wrote many complaints, but we found no help, we are now trying to recover from the trauma of the whole ordeal & bring back happiness into our family life especially for our son who has no friends, is lonely & isolated while we wait on waivers for him in KY. Thank you for helping my son make strides towards independence and life goals if you purchase something from our store.

@xoemilydarling in addition to my son. I was also diagnosed in April!! I'm 52. Thank you for the kind words. I used to resell vintage as a hobby back in 90's and 2000's now it's a way for me to help my son learn those skills he needs for future independence if he wants. I love showing him the responses we get on "about seller". Will show him yours soon, thanks again.

Tracy your closet name caught my eye- our son has high functioning Asperger‘s Covid was terrible on our kids thankfully our son was finished with school by then. I’m proud to say he’s 24 works full-time;purchased two vehicles on his own in cash; has a nice savings & he’s met an entirely new group of accepting friends! Not bragging just like to let others know our kids have more potential than most give them credit for! God bless you & your son✌🏻💗Kathy

@kathytheez That is so wonderful to hear. Since we are waiting on waiver list in the state we had to come back to in the Midwest it has been quiet the adjustment for my son. He used to help me here and there before Covid when it was my favorite hobby thing to do and it was always my way to destress the day away. Then it became my only source of making ends meet because I had to leave my career as a paraeducator to care for him. I have begun homeschooling him. He is all on board now.

He has advanced another level in reading in only a 2 month time frame. We only do three days a week, 2 hrs and the learning is split with 20 mins of working out on a rebounder trampoline vibration plate. Which I have wanted for awhile and finally had the sales at Christmas time to get. Now he helps me about 50% of the time, mostly with shipping and helping me take pics. He hopes to be job ready in a few years. Hoping he gets waiver so he can attend life skills class soon. They do have potential!

I stopped wallowing in the past and made a decision I can greatly impact his life now more than ever, even though all of it is kind of a do over, there is no time like the present and I hope to see him thriving by 30!!

@dakotachair Thank you I love the kind words, I really do. Just trying to do my best, never stop teaching my son, being there for him and I am very lucky to still be able to do this and keep up with everything. So the words brighten my day because I know it takes time out of others day to read a little bit further into who is on platform, and I appreciate you taking the time. Take care yourself and yes love and strength always.

My grandson also has autism, so your closet name caught my eye. It has been so wonderful learning how to get into his world and I see the it in a whole new light ❤️ Take care!!

@kellykell2015 💖💖💖 Love to hear that 💖💖💖. I spent way to much time in the beginning worry why, how, what do I do. I let him guide me through everything and all those things I thought he would never be able to do he has for the most part, it just takes him doing it in his own time. What some learn at 12-15 he is just learning now. He is such a wonderful light in my life. I hope that light shines bright for you to see in your grandson, take it all in, they grow up quick!! Take care. Tracy

@allin4autism oh my gosh! We need to talk! I’d love to talk to another mother of an autistic child! I have a son who is 11 going on 12 and he’s autistic ADHD and I’m struggling so bad with him right now. He is starting to get frustrated so easy and angry so easy but it’s only because of his sister. She’s just aggravating him to that point!

@jennifers29 those years are always a struggle no matter what. I got theories around that. Public education is a major factor. One thing I learned late was to follow their likes and build from that. If I could do over again I would have homeschooled my son definitely through middle school and build off his likes, and got him active with a gym membership or doing things at home, like we have a rebounder now(small trampoline) & a vibration plate, both work wonders to help him regulate his emotions
