An astonishing handwoven antique Lei from the island of Hawaii. Deeply intricate and very unusual, it has a back bone of cowrie to which other native shells are attached. Fantastic for a dancer or groom, or for a life celebration.
True Vintage, 40’s or 50’s, strung on filament, which is showing its age. Has one section of shell loss, I will add a photo before this listing goes live. This is a historic piece, not made for the tourist trade, filled with ocean magic and a powerful masculine energy.
Colors of white, cream, brown, tan.
From a smoke free home, will be sent with great care. Questions, bundles and offers are always welcome! Thanks for stopping into my Posh shop.
I adore real shell jewelry and carry an assortment including niihau momi, kahelelani, pikake bridal necklaces, real rolled lip surfer puka, tribal heishi, Tahitian bridal pieces and Raratonga li. If you are on the hunt for something specific, please ask- I may just have it in the vaults waiting to be listed.

Your collection brings so much joy to me even at a distance! How long have you been collecting?

@godsgirl373737 oh gosh, for years, since I was a little girl of 6! But I really dove into it during the lockdown. I had Covid in the first wave and it was so frightening— I sat and *breathed* and read read read about shells… before then I’d loved them and picked them up, but I never learned about them. Now I’m a complete junky!

@godsgirl373737 I really should post my personal collection, but I’m thinking that might be better on a blog or something. Does anyone even blog anymore?? How did you get started on this?
