melissagelfand @doritoguerra84 - often leather was polished as part of the prep process historically. It’s not like a vernis or parent high shine. For a much newer bag the small green Gucci bag I have for sale is made with a polished leather. It will give you an idea of new polished leather but this bag doesn’t have the polish of the green.

melissagelfand @doritoguerra84 just read online that often a protective wax or treatment was added to leather which allows the natural grains to be seen rather than a patent or other pvc treatment. Lower shine and natural grains with a luster. Hermes Chanel Gucci Celine all did a lot of it and still use it today. Not a matte finish. Hope that helps.
