New to the Sellers Market! Italian Murano Glass Large Vase made with the Doppio Incalmo technique. Incalmo is the name of the Process and Doppio means that it is done twice. I believe that this vase, although typically at the time unsigned, may be attributed to a well known glassblower, Alfredo Barbini.
Doppio (double): The term Doppio is Italian for "double," signifying that the Incalmo process has been applied twice.
Incalmo: This traditional Venetian technique involves fusing together two separate hollow glass parts, typically of different colors, while they are still hot. It requires extreme precision to ensure the "lips" of the two glass bubbles are the same diameter for a clean join.
This belonged to my son, the collector of anything aesthetically pleasing or interesting! He had a great eye and very many things in my shop were hand picked by him. This has been carefully stored for 29 years and is in Fine Condition. NO chips, NO Cracks - I am in my dotage - 93. I cannot hold on to everything much longer! It is unsigned but attributed to Alfredo Barbini. It would have been made in the 50's-60'sThere is one tiny bubble about 1/3 of the way down and a tiny something about an inch down inside one shoulder. Otherwise it is spotless and there small spots are not unique.
