Artisan Signed Native American San Juan Pottery Bowl New Mexico

This is a Native American San Juan Pueblo pottery bowl, signed by the artist.  The bowl features fine line incised geometric designs, which are a signature style of San Juan Pueblo pottery.  The clay used often has a high mica content, giving the surface a natural shimmer.  The top rim and bottom are stone-polished, with a crimped or indented lip.  The pottery revival movement in the 1930s established this distinct style based on ancient shards from the 1450s-1500s.
