Antique carved jade netsuke hare pendant handcrafted in Japan measures 1 5/8”

Initially created as a simply carved button fastener on the cords of an inro box, Netsuke later developed into ornately sculpted objects of craftsmanship. A netsuke is a miniature sculpture and originated in 17th century Japan. Netsuke like this hare were designed as a decorative pieces to accent traditional Kimonos and were also worn by Samurai for good fortune and protection.
