Antique Victorian Oval Locket R. B. Macdonald & Company on Modern Chain 18k GE

This is a genuine antique pendant from the Victorian era. It's a sturdy, heavy oval gold locket, with etched designs on the front and tiny accent gemstones. Inside, the locket is stamped with the maker's mark for R.B. MacDonald & Co. It's a beautiful piece, and would be a wonderful choice for mourning jewelry. R.B. MacDonald & Co. was a maker of high-quality lockets from 1874 until it closed in 1924 (you can see one of its advertisements in my images). Its pieces were stamped with a bumblebee logo, and signed "RBM Atrice 1874", as is seen with this locket. The locket is 2" by 0.85". It's gold-filled; the gemstones are white or clear, but they're too small and deep-set to get a consistent reading with a Presidium Gem Tester II, so I'm listing them as glass. The locket's is in very good condition, with minor scratches on the back and signs of wear. The chain is not original; it's a more modern chain I added. The chain is 18k gold electroplate, and it's a 2mm rope design. It is 18" long.
