This is an antique Victorian era brooch featuring a porcelain transferware image with hand painted embellishments. The portrait is of a lady in 18th century dress and plumed hat, inspired by Georgian portraiture. The oval porcelain plaque is set in an ornate gold-filled scroll frame with a secure pin clasp and original safety chain. The frame is a scrolling ribbon-style design, gold-tone metal, possibly gold-filled or rolled gold. The reverse of the porcelain is impressed with the number “30,” a size mark used by early 20th century European makers. A nice example of Victorian portrait jewelry, perfect for collectors of hand-painted miniatures or antique brooches.
