Antique Victorian Goddesses "Day & Night" Carved Shell Cameo

This exquisite piece is featuring the goddesses Aurora / Nox with the eagle representing Zeus. Eos is the goddess of the dawn in Greek Mythology and Aurora is the goddess of the dawn in Roman Mythology. The second image on the right is Nyx the goddess of the night in Greek Mythology and Nox is the goddess of night in Roman Mythology. The study of these two goddesses is very interesting and worth the read. This piece was hand crafted around the 1870's and can be worn as a brooch or on a chain around your neck. This beautiful Day & Night Cameo is set in an intricate 14c gold frame surrounded with genuine white seed pearls. Please see photos for quality, measurements and design.
