Antique JTHS high school sterling on bronze brooch/ broach/ pin Circa 1900s-1920s Unique Arts & Crafts period high school brooch with a beautiful sterling design over bronze A high school motto is in the center, possibly from Joliet Township High School, and says "Nihil Sine Labore JTHS MDCCCLXXIX" (roughly translates to "Nothing Without Work JTHS 1879) ***Likely manufactured by the Heintz Art Metal Shop of New York, circa 1903-1930. Many of these pieces were unsigned but the craftsmanship and style are unmistakable.
