Antique E. G. Webster & Son Repousse Box. Silverplate On Copper. Hallmarked On Base. American, Late 19th To Early 20th Century (1886-1928 Backstamp). Finely Decorated Repousse (Raised Relief) Covering The Entirely Of The Box. The central oval appears to feature a profile of Napoleon — a small shield with “N” beneath him and a French impersonal eagle above. He is flanked by classical figures: females with flowing hair and robes. The sides feature wreaths, graceful vines and swag cartouche (one with an M inscribed in it). SIZE: Measures 6 1/8” by 5” by 3” H CONDITION: Various signs of age-related wear, including tarnish and some of the silver has worn off revealing warmer copper tones. The lid, once hinged, is detached.
