A striking and rare piece of mid-20th century history, this vintage military-style chalk globe dates back to the 1930s–1940s. Featuring a beautifully aged hand-painted surface and mounted on a heavy cast iron tripod base, this globe was likely used for educational or strategic purposes during wartime. The minimalist stenciled design and muted palette suggest a utilitarian military issue rather than a commercial school globe.
I acquired this about 6-7 years ago and am ready for it to find a new home!
• Authentic vintage condition with original patina
• Heavy cast iron base with classic tripod legs (felt pads added at feet)
• Likely used for military training or classroom instruction during WWII
• Globally stylized with simplified landmasses and regional demarcations
• Stands approximately 14 inches tall
• Globe circumference is approximately 25 inches (about 8” diameter)
A perfect centerpiece for a study, library, or historical decor collection. This is not a reproduction — it’s a genuine artifact with rich character. I’m unsure if it’s a Denoyer Geppert, but extremely similar. It’s nearly 5lb alone.
