Antique Pottery Vase 5.5" Tall Mottled Brown Green Round Flared Rockingham Ohio
Features:
Nice antique original Rockingham vase
Features the classic Rockingham brown mottled glaze with hints of green and a lovely round body with flared lip and foot silhouette
From 1840 to 1900, U.S. factories, such as those in East Liverpool, Ohio, made a brown-glazed pottery called Rockingham. This characteristic brown mottled glaze is the result of a combination of glazes applied in a two-step process: the vessel was first dipped in a clear or yellow glaze, dried, then an iron-based brown glaze would be splattered or dripped onto the vessel. The roots of this style of stoneware originate from Swinton Pottery in England.
