Antique Non Dialing Candlestick Phone Telephone Brass Bakelite PL 234 No 22 * Measures approx 12" tall. Base is 5.25" diameter. * Receiver is black plastic (that I believe to be Bakelite). * Ear piece and trim are brass. Brass has not been polished and has a nice patina and wear patterns from use. * The base and post are enameled metal, maybe cast iron or steel? The base is weighted/heavy to prevent it tipping over. * Heavy! Weighs nearly 5 pounds before packaging for mailing. * The cords are wrapped in brown fabric. They are secured with electrical tape and have broken and soiled areas. * The only manufacturing marks are PL. 234 No 22. * I've seen people on the internet attribute this phone to the GPO (General Post Office) of the UK, but I don't know if that's accurate. * Stephen Agate (phone number 7640) wrote his name and number on the receiver. He also wrote the number on the brass collar and underside. * There are several places on the base where the black enamel has flaked off where there are rusty spots. * Non-tested/Non-functional since the cords have breaks in them.
