Antique 1929 mathematics reference by Harvard’s B.O. Peirce — “A Short Table of Integrals,” embossed green hardcover, perfect for a scholar’s desk or study.
Antique Mathematics Reference Book — “A Short Table of Integrals” by B.O. Peirce, Third Revised Edition (1929).
A compact academic reference created by Harvard mathematician Benjamin Osgood Peirce, this early 20th-century compendium offers neatly organized formulas for definite and indefinite integrals.
Within its pages, integrals are arranged by class — algebraic, trigonometric, hyperbolic, and transcendental — supported by diagrams. A handwritten signature inside, Ralph Staschke, Feb. 1948, traces the book’s past life in the hands of a post-war student or engineer, adding provenance and human history to its technical precision. Eighty years ago, he left three paper clips as bookmarks- which have now become patinated and left indentations on some pages and a fainted rusted outline. I have left them there for posterity.
A worthy addition for collectors of early STEM texts, or as subtle, intellectual décor for a home office or study.
