Antique handwritten Want Book ledger journal dating to the late 1800s, containing detailed records of purchases, sales, and provisions typical of a rural general store and farm operation. Inside are handwritten entries in multiple hands, recording items such as flour, oil, yeast, eggs, meat, feed, and livestock. The book was clearly used over several years and shows the authentic rhythm of 19th-century rural life and trade.
An authentic piece of rural Americana and an excellent research or display piece for collectors of vintage accounting or farm records. Entries date from 1889-1902. Pages are used in the front and back of the ledger, and a good portion of the middle pages are unused. Staining and wear as expected with age, but remains securely bound and legible. See photos for measurements and condition details.
