Antique Ivy Scatter Pin – Gold-Tone Engraved Mini Brooch, c. 1890s–1910s – C-Clasp, Victorian/Edwardian
A tiny antique “scatter” pin with hand-engraved ivy leaves framed by a scalloped cartouche. Classic late-Victorian/early-Edwardian hardware with a long pin stem
Details
• Era: Late Victorian to early Edwardian (circa 1890–1910)
• Design: Bright-cut engraved ivy leaves within a scroll & scallop frame
• Metal/Finish: Unmarked gold-tone; likely gold-filled/rolled gold over base metal
• Clasp: Original C-clasp (no safety), long pin stem typical of the period
• Size: ~1.1” x 0.9” (about 28 x 23 mm)
• Color: Warm antique gold with natural patina
Condition
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Light surface scratches and mellow patina to front and back; pin stem shows a slight natural curve and protrudes beyond the edge (period-correct). Clasp holds securely. Photos are part of the description—zoom for close-ups.
Wear solo on a blouse collar, cluster with other tiny pins on a lapel, anchor a ribbon on a straw hat, or add to a scarf/beret for that true turn-of-the-century charm. Ivy symbolized fidelity & friendship in the Victorian “language of flowers.” 🌿
Notes
• Metal is unmarked and not tested for precious metal content.
• Open C-clasp = no locking mechanism; best for medium/heavier fabrics.
• I do not polish antique pieces
Measurements (approx.)
• Length: 1 in
• Width: 3/4 in / 23 mm
• Pin stem overhang: ~2–3 mm
