Antique Footed Hand Painted Porcelain Nippon Hair Receiver has raided gold accents along with hand painted accents.
A hair receiver was a decorative container with a hole in the lid, used from the Victorian era to the mid-20th century, to collect hair brushed from brushes and combs. The collected hair was then reused to create hair "rats" (small hair-filled pads), stuffing for pincushions, or for hair art. These elegant receptacles helped keep dressing tables tidy and were an essential part of the vanity set for creating the voluminous hairstyles popular during that period.
This little beauty had one broken leg that was glued back into place (see photos). She's still beautiful for use or display.
