This is a beautiful antique platter with hand painted flowers with touches of orange, pink and light blue. The brown is a cocoa brown, very light for the branches, leaves, stems and decorative filigree elements. There is gold leaf outlining the outside edge of the platter and the two leaves on each side. From my research, this platter was created between 1870 and sometime in the 1880s! After 1896 the company added a Ltd to their mark.
The mark on back reads: John Maddock & Sons Royal Vitreous England, with a crown on top.
Below it says W.C. Hendrickson & Co. Decorated Pottery.
With both “logos” on the back, it means the pottery was produced under the Maddock Royal Vitreous line (in Burslem, England) and decorated by the Hendrickson Co that was also located in England.
This antique piece is in EUC, with a few areas where the gold leaf has rubbed away (right where the platter was carried the most). It’s an elegant piece of history that you can display or use. Recommended hand washing only.
14.5” wide x 10.25” high
There are a couple pinpoint imperfections, but mostly she’s perfect!
