Antique Diminutive Japanese Lacquer Small Chest of drawers Tansu Style Jewelry Box 1800's This red lacquered and gold gilt box/ jewelry box was made circa 1870-1890's. Three 3  drawers which pull in and out and fit well.  This miniature chest, likely a tansu or kimono chest, presents as a charming example of Japanese folk art or furniture, possibly dating from the Meiji or Taisho period given its distressed, hand-painted appearance and traditional aesthetic. This exquisite miniature chest, likely an oriental export piece, presents a charming and characterful example of decorative furniture. Crafted with three drawers, each features original, aged brass-toned pull handles, exhibiting a delightful patina that speaks to its considerable age and history.
