Antique Cloisonne Egg: Vintage with smooth surface and wooden base Made btwn 1700s-1800's This is an antique cloisonne egg acquired by my parents during their travels to Asia in the 1970s. The surface is smooth and indicates that is an older cloisonne piece since newer more modern renderings have raised surfaces. Consider a modern cloisonné piece: it may have an uneven or pale surface color or may have raised, bumpy, or detached cloisons. Compare that to an 18th century piece that has a smooth texture (though probably aged) and vivid colors. This is a gorgeous egg with vibrant colors on a tan base background. This has been kept in a museum quality case until my parents' recent death and now is stored with humidity and temperature controlled consideration.
