Antique Chinese Silk Hand Embroidered Piano Shawl

Antique Chinese hand embroidered "piano" shawl. These are also called Manila or Flamenco shawls.  It is of silk and the colors are vibrant. Measures 53" square plus the hand knotted fringe that measures 17" long. Total measurement is 70" by 70". It has a few pulled threads. totally gorgeous! The last two photos are close=up to illustrate the hand embroidery. The first is the front the next is the back. You can see where the silk floss is tucked after ending. Back in the period, if you were a perfectionist and wanted to be considered a skilled embroidered artist, the back needed to look nearly as neat as the front. Thread ends were wrapped and tucked to avoid unsightly knots. (I'm an antique dealer since 1987)
