This small yet striking teapot is a masterful example of Qing Dynasty export cloisonné, blending Chinese mythology with decorative porcelain artistry. The hand-painted enamel body depicts figures likely from Chinese opera or folklore, one in regal blue seated upon an ornate golden throne, the other wielding flowing red robes and a fan, possibly representing courtly maidens or mythic immortals. Each panel is set in metal framing, often pewter or silver-plated copper, secured with wrapped wire and etched fittings. The lid is topped with a seated figurine, and the spout takes the form of a dragon's head, believed to guard sacred offerings. Chinese script elegantly runs down one panel, perhaps poetry or a signature, flanking the imagery. The handle curves like a tendril of smoke, adding theatrical flair. Though unmarked on the base, this piece reflects early 20th-century craftsmanship, likely circa 1910–1930, a period when such hybrid works were produced for both ceremonial and decorative use. The wear and slight warping on the foot suggest age and use, this was not a shelf-sitter, but an object meant to delight in hand.
